This ministry provides uplifting and prayerful music for Eucharistic
Celebrations and other liturgies which inspire and encourage parishioners to
actively participate at mass.
The Music Ministry includes nine choirs and ensembles. All parishioners who
love music and can sing or play an instrument are encouraged to join one or more
music ensemble.
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir sings at regularly scheduled weekend masses.
Rehearsals are held once per week (Wednesdays from 7:15–9:15 PM.). While all singers practice at the same time, they sing at the Mass of their choice. No auditions required. The ability to read music is not required.
Instrumental Ensemble
Instrumentalists practice together weekly with the adult choir and have the choice of playing at any Mass. A brief audition is required.
Adult Hand Bell Choir
Hand Bells enhance the beauty of our music at special liturgies, such as
Christmas and Easter. This ensemble rehearses three times per month(Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.). Ability to read music is required.
New Life Singers
This is a small group of adults who sing at weekday funeral liturgies. A
flexible daily schedule is necessary to participate. St. Paul generally has 2
to 3 funerals each month. Rehearsals are held occasionally on Thursday mornings.
Lake County Simbang Gabi Choir
This choir includes teens and adults from St. Paul’s and other parishes
throughout the county. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays, 7:30 to 9:00 PM, September through December. This choir performs at Simbang Gabi celebrations from December 16 through 23. New singers do not have to beFilipino, but you will be asked to sing in both English and Tagalog (the Filipino language).
“LIFE TEEN®” Choir and Ensemble
This choir sings at “LIFE TEEN®” liturgies. Adult and teen singers and
instrumentalists are welcome to participate. Rehearsals are the 1st and 3rd Sundays from 4:45 to 5:45 PM, before the LIFE TEEN® Masses, which are held September through May.
Children's Choir Grades K to 8
This choir sings at the 9:00 AM Mass once per month, on Christmas Eve at 6:00 PM, and on Easter at the 9:00 AM Mass. Rehearsals are held one Friday per month, 4:30 to 6:30 PM. This group also participates in various community events and the National Children’s Choir Festival.
Teen Hand Bell Ensemble Ages 13 to 18
and
Children's Hand Bell Ensemble Grades 3 to 8
Our Hand Bell Ensembles enhance special liturgies, such as Christmas and Easter. Two years of piano or note reading experience are required. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday afternoons from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.
Recorder Ensemble Grades 4 to 12
This Ensemble plays for Christmas, Easter and First Eucharist Masses. At least one year of instrumental experience and/or basic note reading skills is required.
Volunteer Opportunities in addition to those listed above:
Babysitters for weekly adult choir rehearsals. Choral Riser Set-up/Tear-down approximately once per month. Ability to lift heavy objects is required. Music Filing which requires organizational skills, 30 minutes per week. Pew Patrol to help clean up and put hymnals back in the book racks after masses. Sound Board Operation with required training. Music Booklets Assembly for the Christmas and Easter Seasons (2 to 4 hours).
